Tyagarah Airstrip is to host its annual fly-in;
the event will take place over one weekend in October - November.
All sorts of aircraft have been invited to attend, from the
smallest homebuilt ultra lights to War birds, vintage aeroplanes,
gliders, and bigger General Aviation aircraft.
Organiser, Dieter Horstmann, says more than 1000 members of
the public attended the first Tyagarah fly-in in 2005.
Dieter says this year’s display 2007? will be even bigger.
The theme for the fly-in is “The past flies into the
future” - Next to the Tyagarah airstrip within walking
distance is Eagle Farm which will be holding its “Open
Day” displaying future Ecology systems and information
for energy farming and lifestyle and solar and hydrogen power
at the blue farm shed.
Tyagarah airstrip is home to a number of enthusiastic aviation
lovers. ultra lights, general aviation aircraft, gliders, hot
air balloons and parachute sky diving clubs share the strip
and have made it a centre for flying activity in the region.
Tyagarah is a grass strip approximately 6 kilometres north
of Byron Bay on the New South Wales North Coast. It’s
a perfect destination for a weekend at the beach.
