The
History of Creation
Mount Warning in its active days started a landscape which over
time has become our beautiful Byron Shire. In some unique
locations basalt has corroded to form huge, heavy crystal
columns. These rocks cannot be used as a concrete supplement,
blue metal or in road building.
When Fran and Dieter took over Eagle farm in 1991 they commenced
work digging trenches to bring in town water and power. The excavator
operator came across many of these enormous rocks and asked where
he should bury the f…ing rocks. Dieter replied “Don’t
bury them, put them upright!” Thus began the start of many
such natural sculptures at Eagle Farm, forming a Byron Bay “Stonehenge”,
a rock tower and a cave/ grotto.
There are many more “crystals” on Eagle Farm. Dieter
would like to “harvest’ these rocks and artistically
create an Eco-centre in the future. For the present he is focussing
on finishing the arrangement of rock crystals and topping the
cave with a cube in the centre of a circle of rocks to be overlooked
from the rock tower which is positioned in line with Mount warning
and the lighthouse.
